We are asked many questions….the most frequent being….”what do I bring?”
With Florida’s ever changing weather a few things are a must:
- Shorts
- Long pants, slacks or jeans
- Long sleeved shirts for sun protection
- Laced boating shoes as we want no “zero” gravity.
- Flip flops are not permitted on the boats or dock area.
- Foul weather gear, suit type or poncho
- A writing instrument
- Sunglasses
- If you are sun sensitive, you may wish to invest in wide brim fishing hat with chin strap. The School provides a fishing cap.
- Sun Block 45 plus (waterproof) and unscented insect repellent. Your Instructor/Guide carries supplies of these items in his tackle bag so unless you have favorites we have you “covered.”
- The School provides ample bottled water.
- Certainly you should bring your personal items.
Can I stay at home and attend School? -
If you reside in the immediate School area the question arises….
The answer is yes and you can become a day student. You will receive a room credit deducted from your tuition.
Two things to remember….there is no adjustment for meals since much of our learning experience is enjoyed around the dining table.
Our day begins at 6:30 am. Please plan accordingly. Dinner normally concludes at approximately 8:00 pm.
Wednesday evening is our graduation celebration and usually ends at about 8:30 pm. Dinner attire is casual.
Alcohol Beverages -
With the exception of the Welcome Reception all alcohol beverages and incidentals are the responsibility of the student.
No alcohol is to be consumed during school hours.
Special Student Services -
The Backwater Fishing School staff will be pleased to coordinate any special needs necessary to ensure the comfort and
enjoyment of each student while attending the School. Our chef will gladly respond to special dietary needs.
The School Registration form provides an area to list specific requests.
